HUNTER & SCOUT

The HUNTER and SCOUT mobile phone signal detection solutions are developed and manufactured by COMMS-TEK.

The HUNTER and SCOUT devices feature advanced technology for detecting FDD/TDD data transmissions using 2G to 5G frequency bands, as well as SMS, data, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

How it works

The signals detected – evidence of communication between a mobile phone (whether on standby or in use) and a base station – are recorded in a real-time log that can be downloaded for immediate analysis (HUNTER) or displayed as a graph on the touchscreen (SCOUT). Thanks to their programmable and automatic filters, they reduce interference and minimise false positives.

Compact and lightweight, the detectors are easy to carry around the control area. Covering the full range of frequencies between 400 MHz and 6 GHz (HUNTER) and between 600 MHz and 4 GHz (SCOUT), they provide reliable, discreet and portable solutions tailored to your professional detection needs.

The software is customised according to the operational areas and the specific frequencies used by mobile network operators (configurable for up to 12 operators).

DETECTION OF EXCHANGED FREQUENCIES
Detection
They detect signals exchanged between mobile phones and base stations (or routers) across a frequency range of between 400 MHz and 6 GHz (HUNTER) and between 600 MHz and 4 GHz (SCOUT).
DETECTION: 2 COMMUNICATION MODES
FDD
Uplink communications (from mobile to base station) take place on a different frequency band to the downlink (from base station to mobile).
TDD
Uplink and downlink traffic are carried on the same frequency.

Frequency band
Each service provider is allocated its own frequency band. The detectors are calibrated to these frequencies.
On standby
In standby mode, brief exchanges take place regularly between the phone and the base station.
Phone switched off =
no communication = no detection.
