The HSS Falcon walk-through metal and non-metal detector is the very latest piece of equipment developed and manufactured by the Swedish company APSTEC.
The HSS Falcon is a dual-technology detection solution utilising millimetre-wave and passive electromagnetic fields. This configuration enables the detection of large metal objects as well as non-metallic threats (such as explosives, narcotics, etc.) on individuals and in their bags. The detection of large threats simplifies preparation procedures. People being screened can keep their personal belongings, such as keys, coins, jewellery, mobile phones, etc., on their person without this affecting the detection of targets.

The HSS Falcon walk-through security gate is easy to set up thanks to its castors, allowing for quick installation both indoors and outdoors (under cover). Its wide passageway ensures a smooth security screening experience for visitors.

DETECTION SENSITIVITY
The HSS Falcon walk-through scanner has been developed to detect threats associated with large-scale terrorist attacks, whether involving military-grade weapons or explosives. Its detection capabilities and the technologies employed
also enable it to detect bundles of narcotics on a person’s body.
The HSS Falcon is capable of detecting items in rucksacks, handbags or carry-on luggage. However, the performance of this detection is limited to large-volume threats (rifles and other military weapons, particularly large explosive devices, etc.)
OPERATING CONCEPT
People being screened simply walk through the detection arch at a normal pace.
The unique nature of the dual-technology system requires an upstream detection zone to analyse the person from the front, and a downstream area to detect any potential threats behind them (see diagram ‘inspection zone’).
The alarm is displayed both on the walk-through scanner via a light signal at the location of the suspicious area, and on the wireless operator’s tablet, which shows a photograph of the person being screened and a highlighted box indicating the alarm zone:
- red = non-metallic alarm
- purple = metallic alarm.
