Sophie’s testimonial: Sales engineer | 8 years in the company
Your first steps?
I joined VISIOM in 2013 as Sales Assistant. I integrated into the department quite easily due to my previous experience and also thanks to my colleagues who were always ready to answer my questions.
At the time, the project department was attached to the sales department and was involved in nearly all the sales files. The project department is now separate from the sales department and our organisation is therefore quite different and has developed. However, we have remained very close and have regular discussions.
Shortly after I arrived, I took part in an Export training course with the Paris Chamber of Commerce and Industry and was therefore able to consolidate the knowledge gained during my various professional experiences.
I also took a training course to manage a team of assistants to establish my position within the department. I was promoted to the position of Executive Assistant in 2015. This new job opened new opportunities and in particular allowed me to develop my professional and commercial skills.
Your professional development and expectations?
The support from my colleagues in the in the sales and project departments was a decisive factor when choosing my current job. After continually performing tasks completely on my own on certain sales files, I was assigned more responsibilities and realised that the “sales” profession attracted me and that I was capable enough of taking on this new challenge.
The sales representatives had an excellent team spirit and worked well together, which also encouraged and galvanised me in my daily work.
After taking other sales training courses (“Responding to electronic invitations to tender” and “the bases of commercial contract law”), my desire to change profession increased. After a number of discussions with my managers, the project took shape and finalised. I really appreciated their confidence and took up the challenge with much determination.
Alongside my work and family life, I was therefore able to take a long and certifying training course: “Profession: Sales rep” in 2019. I then obtained the “Sales and Negotiation” certification, with congratulations from the jury.
This training course led to my new job since 2020: Sales engineer. Since then, VISIOM has gained a united team, which shares methodology and experience, is more efficient and implements the sales techniques required to handle the projects quickly and precisely.
Your final comment?
My project grew with me and completing it gave me full satisfaction in my work and in my personal life. The trust that my manager, my sales colleagues, the project department and the management placed in played a decisive role in my ambition to change job. I am proud to have succeeded and to have deserved the confidence they placed in me. For me, joining VISIOM was a fantastic professional development opportunity. I found the job that I needed and I was offered the means to achieve my ambitions. It all took place very smoothly, like a long-distance run, until I obtained the job that was made for me.
